As a mother whenever I saw my child in such debilitating pain I wanted to take her place. Sickle cell can be very unpredictable and I knew that I always had to be available. The most traumatic experience I remember was her going in for a routine surgery she was then transferred to 2 hospitals before ending up in intensive care. I remember being by her bedside praying while everyone around us was dying. The doctors told me to prepare for the worse but I kept my faith and she’s here today, doing well and I truly believe that God preserved her life for such a time like this. To encourage and bring hope to other sufferers.
